- Begin by making a big request (but not an unreasonable one). When this is rejected, make a smaller request.
- Collect and display testimonials from people who are similar to those you are attempting to persuade.
- Encourage people to disagree with you and to question your suggestions. Honestly respond to these disagreements.
- Openly discuss the drawbacks and shortcomings of the product or service that you are recommending.
- Do not despise the previous approach but frame it as the best available choice at the time the people selected it.
