101 INTERCULTURAL INSIGHTS
We received a total of 133 powerful practical guidelines (130 from participants, plus 3 samples to kick things off) for working effectively with intercultural groups.
We also have a Hall of Fame with the names of high scorers from the email game.
Thanks to everyone who contributed the guidelines, who evaluated the guidelines, and who "lurked" in the background.
If you have some more practical intercultural guidelines that you would like to share, or if you were out of the country during the play of 101 INTERCULTURAL INSIGHTS, now is the chance for you to contribute. Please email your guidelines to thiagi@thiagi.com or use our convenient web form.
We plan to continue this activity for ever and ever. You can contribute your guidelines any day, any time you want to. We will update our list immediately. Keep checking our List of Guidelines for brand new ideas from your colleagues.
As I reviewed the final list, I realized that I should not be counting the guidelines, but should make the guidelines count. I realize that not all the guidelines will work for me. Some guidelines actually contradict each other. Some guidelines go against my personal philosophy of intercultural interaction. Some guidelines are too vague and abstract. Some are too specific and narrow.
But there are several guidelines that I can immediately apply to my life. Although I have been a global nomad for all my life and I have lived in three different countries and cultures for an extended period of time, I still find absolutely new guidelines in this collection. Rather than stuff myself with all new ideas, I just select three ideas every week and focus on applying them immediately to my personal and professional life.
We have detailed instructions for adapting and using the 101 TIPS email game for your own needs.
We'd appreciate any feedback about your experiences with the game and suggestions for improving it. We'd be interested in hearing from you even if you did not actively participate in the game, but observed what was happening from time to time.
We followed up 101 INTERCULTURAL INSIGHTS with a game called EDITOR, which involved 58 people making more than a thousand individual evaluations to choose the Top 20 guidelines.
