Details about TRIANGLES
What is TRIANGLES?
An elegant, efficient, effective simulation game with a
surprising twist which explores such areas as
- Total customer focus
- Quality management
- Planning and implementation
- Cross-functional rivalries
- Employee participation
What insights are gained from TRIANGLES?
It incorporates such powerful principles of human interaction
as
- It's easy to ignore the customer, and it's suicidal to do
so.
- Managers maintain their superiority by withholding
information.
- Job labels result in stereotyped assumptions.
- Lack of communication results in lack of trust.
- Too much technical expertise interferes with efficient
planning.
- There is no such thing as an idiot-proof plan.
- Managers and employees frequently assume an adversarial
role.
- Abrupt transitions from planning to implementation are
doomed to fail.
- Workers feel they can plan better than designers.
Who is TRIANGLES for?
It is used to explore such real-world, three-group interactions
as
- Managers, workers, customers
- Suppliers, producers, consumers
- Teachers, students, parents
- Directors, actors, audience
- Designers, trainers, learners
- Generals, soldiers, civilians
- Architects, builders, residents
- Consultants, clients, customers
- Scientists, engineers, end-users

What can TRIANGLES offer you?
TRIANGLES is an effective, convenient, and energizing tool for
managers, consultants, or trainers who want to facilitate the
exploration of factors associated with new work processes or new
products and services. TRIANGLES brings out individual and group
assumptions, tensions, and frustrations. The game dramatically
illustrates the inefficiency and futility of separating the
process improvement function from the implementation
function.
How long does it take to play TRIANGLES?
TRIANGLES takes 45 minutes to play, but playing time can be
extended. It requires a minimum of 15 minutes for debriefing
(although as long as three hours has been used).
How many people can play TRIANGLES?
It is best played with 12 to 23 players. With 24 or more,
divide into two subgroups.
