The five simulation games in this book help players explore skills and concepts related to diversity in the workplace. These games share the following features:
Each simulation game in the book focuses on a specific topic:
BRIEF ENCOUNTERS shows the players how easily they can be indoctrinated to pass judgments on others.
CHATTER shows how there is more to getting your message across than the words.
EXCLUDE helps the players experience the frustrations of being left out.
REINCARNATION guides the players to get in touch with their personal perceptions of diversity.
SAME DIFFERENCE forces the players to discover different dimensions of diversity.
The five activities in this book are designed for use in organizational settings. They are especially suited for play by
How much time? These simulation games are designed to fit busy corporate schedules. Actual play times varies from 10 to 20 minutes. Each game requires at least 15 minutes for debriefing (although several hours can be spent in discussing the important points raised during the activity).
How many participants? The special design of these simulation games permits play by any number of participants--with a minimum of four in most cases.
What supplies? Reproducible masters for all printed play materials and handouts are included in this book. In addition, you will need a few easy-to-obtain supplies such as playing cards and equipment such as a cassette player
